The Barghest & the Boxer: How I Cleared a Black Dog Demon from My Rescue, King

I never expected that adopting a dog would lead me into one of the most intense spiritual clearings of my life. But that's exactly what happened with King — my big, goofy, loveable boxer — and the barghest that had latched onto him long before he ever came home to me.

Who Is King?

In 2021, I adopted King from a shelter. From the moment I brought him home, something felt... off. Not with King himself — he was sweet, eager to please, and full of that classic boxer energy. But there was a heaviness around him that I couldn't shake. As someone who works with energy daily, I knew better than to dismiss it.

The Signs I Noticed

Over the weeks that followed, King began showing symptoms that went beyond typical shelter dog adjustment:

• Severe separation anxiety — even when I was in the next room, he would panic
• Constant whining with no clear cause
• Excessive drooling, far beyond what's normal even for a boxer
• Persistent bad breath that didn't improve with dental care
• A restless, unsettled energy — like he could never fully relax

Individually, these could be explained away. Together, they told a different story. I began tuning into King's energy field and what I found stopped me cold — there was something attached to him. Something old, dark, and predatory.

What Is a Barghest?

A barghest is a black dog demon from Northern European folklore — a spectral, shadow-like entity often described as a large black dog with glowing eyes. In spiritual practice, barghests are known as parasitic attachments that feed on fear, anxiety, and life force energy. They are drawn to animals and people who are already vulnerable — and a shelter dog, displaced and frightened, is exactly the kind of host they seek.

King hadn't done anything wrong. He had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time, and this entity had latched on — feeding off his anxiety and amplifying it to keep the cycle going.

The Clearing: Incident to Source

I knew this wasn't a simple cleansing. This required a full clearing — from the present attachment all the way back to the source of the connection. Here's what I did:

I began with a thorough smoke cleanse of King and our entire space, working intentionally around his energy field and asking for the attachment to be revealed and released.

2. Sound Bathing & Tuning Forks
Sound is one of the most powerful tools for breaking up stagnant and parasitic energy. I used tuning forks and sound bathing to shatter the energetic grip the barghest had on King's field, working through his aura layer by layer.

3. Crystal Work
I placed and worked with protective and cleansing crystals around King during the session — anchoring the space and supporting his energy body through the release.

This was the heart of the clearing. I called in my guides and King's own spirit guide, using dowsing rods to communicate and navigate the clearing. Together, we traced the attachment back to its source — not just removing it from King, but severing the connection completely so it could not return.
